New summer location by the deer park!

Spring is a time for new beginnings, and with the new season just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to announce that the Bennington Farmers’ Market will move to a new summer location this year!

Starting May 1, you’ll now be able to find the market at 100 Veterans Memorial Drive – in the glen beside the chamber of commerce building and the deer park (right about here). It’s a much larger location, one that should allow us to expand in the coming years. It’s also still easy to get to, with a Green Mountain Express bus line (the Green Line – South) running to that location for free multiple times on Saturdays and with plenty of available parking.  Many thanks to the Vermont Veterans Home for making this possible.

Several new vendors will join us this summer, and we’ve booked a few new musicians to play at the market this summer too. Keep it tuned here or subscribe to our mailing list for further details.

Want to get involved with the market as we grow? Consider becoming a vendor at the market; we’d love to see what you have for sale. If you don’t have anything to sell, we could always use some volunteers; email us at BenningtonFarmersMarket@gmail.com to find out how to lend a hand. Or you could always support the market by becoming a member.

Finally, please welcome to all of our new and returning sponsors, without whom none of this would be possible: The Memory ClinicSacred Heart St. Francis De Sales ChurchBennington Express Lube and Car WashWassick TireMaple Leaf RealtyCenterline ArchitectsWest Mountain Animal Hospital, and the Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce

January markets going online only

To keep our vendors and our customers safe with the recent rise in COVID cases in Bennington County, we’ve decided to go online only for the month of January. Online ordering through BenningtonFM.EatFromFarms.com will be the same as before: Make sure to get your orders in before the Thursday evening prior to the market. Curbside delivery will also operate the same as before, with one exception: Come pick up your order at 650 Main Street anytime from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the market.

That said, we’re working to add new vendors and new products to the site. Firefly Farm is back with us, offering their delicious bread and pitas. And the market now has this year’s posters in stock! Keep an eye out for more in the coming days and weeks.

UPDATE: All February markets are online only as well. Stay tuned for information about our March markets.

Winter markets start November 21!

We could have easily decided to forego winter markets this year. It would certainly have been the safest option to take, and we don’t blame anybody for the decisions they have made to keep themselves, their families, and the community in general safe.

At the same time, the Bennington Farmers Market owes it to the community to continue to operate during these times. As we saw back in the spring, national food distribution networks are fragile, so we need more resilient local food networks. Our vendors are family-run businesses. Our customers have come to rely on us.

So we will keep going for as long as we feel it is reasonably safe to do so. We have also made many changes to the market this winter to make it as safe as possible.

First, we’ve relocated to a bigger space to make physical distancing easier. The new location, the cafeteria in the former junior high school at 650 Main Street, will serve our needs for winter markets for years to come.

Second, we’ve improved our online pre-order and curbside pickup systems for anybody choosing not to shop in person. We think it’s a pretty robust system, the details of which you can get here, and we’re excited to offer these options for our customers.

Finally, we’re committed to everybody’s safety, so we ask first of all that everybody wear masks and practice physical distancing when visiting the market. We also ask for your patience as we continue to adapt to changing conditions and as we continue to refine our approach to providing an awesome little year-round farmers market.

As always, feel free to contact us with your suggestions, concerns, and questions. Or come see us at the new location from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on any of the below dates:
